Taking Care of Your Feet in The Summer

Summer might be a favorite season for many people. During summer time, there are lots of activities outside that associated with the movement of your feet. Therefore, sometimes summer may be hard for your feet as it needs to face the sun, warm temperature, and dust.

There are many unexpected elements that might be bad on your feet skin. For those people who take outdoor activities during the summer, there is also a chance that their feet can get hurt if the activity is such a heavy task.

However, if you carry a good habit of taking care of your feet, there is not much to fear with foot problems. Here is a quick guideline on how you should take care of your feet step by step.

Say no to barefoot: Obviously, it very dangerous to walk on your barefoot during the summer. Especially on the beach, you might want to have your barefoot on the sand. However, there are such things like shells, trash and sharp stuff that can injure your feet. To avoid any kind of injuries and cut, try to wear at least flip flop. If you walk a lot with your barefoot, you also make the sole of your feet become sore. Moreover, you even encourage ringworms, fungal to easily enter into your feet skin.

A perfect pair of socks: During summer time when the temperature raise lots, you should make sure that your footwear is breathable. A pair of the sock which is light and synthetic will work well on your feet during the hot time. A good pair of socks will make you feel comfortable and avoid sweaty feet. In case your feet is under wet condition, it is a potential environment for bacteria and fungal to develop.

Get rid of blister: If you usually wear sandals or flip flop during summer time, you might have faced a foot problem called blister. You should get rid of the blister right away because the blisters might cause uncomfortable and annoying feeling in your skin. For your look, the blisters also do not look good. You can rub it off by using padding or liquid bandage.

Let your feet breath: As the weather in summer is pretty hot, you should not cover your feet all day long with unbreathable footwear. You can choose footwear such as sandals or shoes with opened toes’ area. Hence, your feet will be able to get some air during the hot day and does not get sweaty. In addition, you are also suggested to take off your shoes sometimes during the day to keep your feet dry.

Hydrate and moisturize: Your feet can be swelled because of the heat in the summer time. To avoid having foot swelling, you should drink more water to keep your whole body together with your feet hydrated. Due to the heat in summer, it is essential to keep your feet moisturized. For the fact that you might stick with sandals and flip flop during summer and do not wear socks all the time, the sunshine directly dry up our feet. Therefore, you should use cream to moisturize and smoothen your feet skin to keep it stay healthy and soft.

Always using sunscreen: It is popular to cover your face with sunscreen to avoid bad UV from the sun affecting your skin. However, you should also remember to apply sunscreen to your feet skin as well. It is a must during summer time to protect your skin from skin cancer and aging skin. You should choose a product with SPF (sun protection factor) from 15 and higher. For those people who go to the beach, you can also buy the waterproof product. Nevertheless, do not forget to reapply sunscreen regularly.

A good pair of a flip flop: Using flip flop too much might result in sore and blister in your toes and the sore of your feet. For that reason, you should look for a good pair of flip flop which is made from soft material that will support your feet. In addition, you are not recommended to walk for a long distance with a flip flop. Please kindly use sneakers or search for best footwear for being on feet all day instead if you walk for a long distance and do not want to have a blister.

Remember to remove your nail polish regularly: It is claimed to be not healthy for your toenails to be covered with nail polish all the time. In order to keep your feet in shape and in healthy status, you should remove nail polish frequently. Consequently, you have your toenails some air at least few days in a month or after few week. Otherwise, your toenails can be discolored and become darker.

Using dry shoes and socks: It very easy for your shoes and socks to get wet during summer. Because of the heat, when you do activities, your feet will be sweaty. If you keep wearing wet socks and shoes, you are highly at risk of having foot problems. Problems associated with wet socks and shoes are usually fungus infection, athlete’s foot or ringworms. Therefore, you should change and clean your socks as well as your shoes regularly.

Watch out any signs and symptoms: You should ear in mind any different or unusual changes in your feet, there might be a sign of foot problem. During the summer time, you tend to use the swimming pool, public shower, open-air changing room, where are spots of infection. You should be careful and take care of your feet. After any kinds of water activities, you should clean your feet as well since water in the lake, river might contains bacteria.

Remove hard and dead skin: You should get a pedicure at home or a professional one. Cracked skin usually happens around your heels for wearing flip flop and sandals for a long time. You have benefits from pedicure that remove hard heel skin, clean your feet and make your toenails look nice.
